Reflection on Results
What went well:

One of the most successful outcomes was the shift from individual to group and pair work. As observed, students felt significantly freer and more relaxed, leading to active participation and a noticeable reduction in the fear of public speaking.
The introduction of "Progress Points" in differentiated assessment worked exceptionally well. By allowing a student to earn a maximum score for reaching a personal goal.

What went badly:

1 Managing Different Levels: Stronger students did a great job as "Language Assistants," but they sometimes just gave their classmates the right answers instead of explaining how to get them. It is still a difficult task to make sure they are actually helping others learn rather than just doing the work for them.

2 Giving Fast Feedback: Even though feedback is very important, it was hard to give every student detailed advice after every speaking task in a large class. I am still working on how to make sure every student feels supported without making the lesson move too slowly.

3 During my Action Research project, I encountered the problem of energy and time imbalance. In a mixed-ability class, teacher attention inevitably becomes a scarce resource. Weaker students require more "energy investment." Working with them involves constant "scaffolding" (support), repeated instructions, and emotional stimulation to reduce their anxiety. In a 45-minute lesson, this often leads to strong students becoming inactive, they become bored, waiting for the rest of the class. This creates a situation of "learning inequity," where strong students don't receive the development, they are capable of.

а) Role-playing lets students “hide” behind characters, making it easier to speak. Mistakes seem like part of the role rather than personal failures, helping overcome fears and build practical fluency.
b) Visual aids: Picture cards, videos, and presentations help students grasp and memorize new words and phrases more effectively.
c) Game-based methods: Fun games like "Guess the Word," "Association," or "Snowball" engage learners and reduce stress during lessons.
d) Group work: Students feel more at ease when working in pairs or small groups, communicating freely in a relaxed setting. This boosts confidence, improves listening skills, and provides instant peer feedback.
e) Individualized approach: Tailor tasks according to each student’s specific needs and interests to ensure effective learning.
f) Positive reinforcement: Encourage progress by praising effort and success, motivating students to keep improving.

Thanks, Natalya, for sharing your AR findings. It would be also lovely to know the questions you used for the survey or criteria to measure their confidence to make the research based on evidences but not assumptions. Best in your AR

I can see your point. The Action research project really assists teachers to identify problems and find their solutions through research work to help their student to succeed.
