Digital Learning and Literacy

I use digital tools and AI to make lessons more interactive and engaging. At my lessons I use Canva - for visual support and demonstrate interesting material. To create online quizzes, for revision and engage each student i use Blooket or Quizizz. On platforms like Quripod and My Casses i prepare lots collaborative tasks. I incorporate videos and listening materials to improve comprehension skills. Digital platforms allow me to assess students' knowledge instantly, provide feedback quickly and personalize tasks.
Also, British Council resources like Learn English Teens, Teaching English and the LearnEnglish Kids platforms are very helpful for me. I found that the British Council's apps are good for grammar practice and listening exercises and very effective for student self-study.
The main challenges that Digital Learning include are unstable internet connections, limited access to devices for all students and sometimes a lack of digital literacy among learners. Additionally, it can be difficult to maintain engagement during online sessions.

Additionally, I make extensive use of British Council resources, including online games, authentic reading materials, and listening activities, which expose students to real-life English in a meaningful context. In my experience, these digital tools are invaluable - they streamline lesson preparation, enhance student motivation, and foster a more dynamic classroom atmosphere. Ultimately, they contribute significantly to making English learning both effective and enjoyable.

The LearnEnglish Kids and LearnEnglish Teens websites are great for age-appropriate reading and listening tasks. I also like the British Council apps such as LearnEnglish Grammar, because they help students practise independently in a simple and enjoyable way.

3. Although digital learning offers many advantages, there are still some challenges. Sometimes students have unstable internet connections or limited access to devices, which makes online tasks difficult for them. Another problem is keeping students focused—digital tools can be distracting if they switch to games or social media. Finally, it can take extra time to prepare digital materials and ensure that everything works correctly, especially when technology fails during a lesson.

The British Council has many helpful resources for teaching digital skills. Today, digital learning is an important part of our work, and students need to know how to use technology safely and effectively.
