Thank you for your feedback! We conducted a survey, and according to the responses, the students already show a high level of engagement. We also wondered how we can measure motivation and according to which criteria.

Assessment for Learning is important because it helps students understand how they learn, what they need to improve, and why their efforts matter. When learners regularly reflect on their progress, receive feedback, and take part in evaluating their own work, they become more responsible, confident, and motivated.
We chose the topic “Enhancing L2 Learners’ Motivation through Peer and Self-Assessment” because, in our 5th-grade English classes, we often face low motivation and passive learning. Many students are unsure how to check their own work or give feedback to classmates. After completing the British Council course, we realized that peer and self-assessment could help solve these problems. We believe that teaching students to assess their own learning can increase engagement, develop self-regulation, and make English lessons more meaningful.
